Resident Manager

Groupe Diethelm Travel
Class of 2015

Colombo, Sri Lanka Return

“My school has a great competitive advantage, its global reputation. When I accepted a job in Thailand, the director had heard of Vatel and my degree was a real advantage.” Verena Spelz, class of 2015, tells us about Vatel global reputation.

Being able to shift from operational duties to human resources, from finance to sales and marketing, that’s what Verena Spelz liked about working in tourism, an economic sector that is still thriving and one that gives young professionals the possibility to diversity their skills in an international context.

Verena chose Vatel for that reason, and appreciated the multicultural curriculum and its interactivity, from practical case studies up to the Vatel International Business Game.

“My school has a great competitive advantage, its global reputation. When I accepted a job in Thailand, the director had heard of Vatel and my degreewas a real advantage.”

Today the Resident Manager for a German tour operator in Sri Lanka, Verena, who had dreamed about working in a multicultural environment, has everything she had hoped for.

She found the job she had been dreaming of just by looking at the official Maldives and Sri Lanka job vacancy site. After that, she simply applied and had a couple of job interviews.

“I really appreciate this great opportunity. I also assess the options that the Sri Lanka financial sector holds, linked to the development of the hospitality industry, and in the long-term, I’d like to export to Europe my experienceacquired in Asia.” Verena Spelz,  Resident Manager at Diethelm Travel Group - Sri Lanka
