Specific Programme Entry Requirements

Foundation Programme Entry Requirements:
Applicants are required to complete a one-year Foundation Programme before progressing to year one of the bachelor's degree. They must:
1. Have at least a High School Certificate
2. Pass an interview


Bachelor's Degree Entry Requirements:
1. Applicant may be eligible for direct entry to year one of the bachelor's degree if they successfully:

  • Completed a Foundation year or International Foundation year in another higher education institution.
  • Completed International Baccalaureate Certificate (IB Diploma) or IB Career Diploma. Meeting or exceeding the minimum IB points is required.
  • Completed a minimum of 3 A-Level subjects, meeting or exceeding the minimum UCAS points requirements.
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

2. Pass an interview

Application Requirements:

Applicants must provide the following documents

  • Colour copy of their passport;
  • Colour copy of their C.P.R.;
  • Two (02) I.D. photos (passport size);
  • Copy of High School Certificate or A-Level equivalent; if their High School Certificate or A-Level equivalent was not issued in Bahrain, applicants must provide a legalised /apostilled copy;
  • Copy of school transcript showing the subjects studied and grades obtained during the final three years of high school education. This must be stamped by the Directorate of Examinations at the Ministry of Education.
  • School certificate of good conduct;
  • Medical examination report (the report must be issued by a health centre / hospital accredited by the Ministry of Education in Bahrain).
  • Any applicants who are in their final year of secondary school and are yet to receive their diploma, should submit their final exam results and a copy of their diploma as soon as they are available.

Programme aim

Complete knowledge of management, team-building, and executive functions in an international environment. Acquiring a professional, legal, economic, and linguistic culture with the objective of having an operational management post in the company.

Students are introduced to Marketing, Human Resources, Administration and Professional Culture. They also learn the rudiments of Catering and Culinary Arts, as well as how to address constraints and unexpected events that arise in Banqueting, Reception and Seminars.

While continuing to enhance their theoretical knowledge, students are introduced to management. Students gain in self-confidence and do an internship in a foreign country other than France.

Thanks to the Marco Polo program, students may do their second year at a Vatel campus elsewhere in the world. This is an opportunity to further develop an international culture while continuing to focus seriously on their syllabus.

Having learned the fundamentals needed to begin team management, students now apply this knowledge in their third and final year. They develop their analytical skills while using the knowledge acquired thus far in the program. They are able to devise strategies and take their first managerial decisions.

What is the language of delivery?

Classes are taught in English except for foreign languages.

Do you have payment plans?

We help you secure an instalment plan should you wish to pay in instalments

Do you offer student accommodation services?

No we do not, but we can assist you in finding a suitable accommodation.

Can you help me with my student visa? 

Yes, Vatel can arrange this on your behalf but a fee will be charged.

I am passionate about cooking and aspire to be a chef.  Will Vatel provide me with good training for this?

Vatel is not a culinary arts school, but you will spend time in the Kitchen department in hotels as part of your practical application weeks and during your internships.

Vatel is a French college.  Can I start my degree in Bahrain and complete it in France if I want to?

No. However, we do offer plenty of options, including France, to conduct a one-year student exchange programme abroad at another Vatel campus via our Marco Polo programme.

I have already completed a foundation year at a different institution. Will I be exempted from the Foundation Year at Vatel?

Yes, however, the admissions team will review your application on a case-by-case basis.

My beard is a large part of my culture and personality.  Will I be allowed to keep it and study at Vatel?

To meet the industry's grooming standards, strict grooming rules apply. However, a neatly trimmed mustache is allowed.

Vatel's degree has a large practical component. What should I expect?
Vatel's degree has two practical components: Bi-Weekly practice, and internships.
A rotation will be arranged in various departments in different properties every 2 weeks. Additionally, students will intern for 18-22 weeks in various properties, in and out of Bahrain, every second semester. 

Which hotels in Bahrain are Vatel partners?

Vatel Bahrain has a growing network of partners in and out of Bahrain which includes 4 and 5 star hotels and luxury tourism businesses.

When I graduate, what job opportunities will be available? 

There are plenty of opportunities in the hospitality sector in Bahrain and the region in various departments. Have a look at our successful Vateliens, our graduates, for a better idea.

I am employed, can I continue to work as well as study at Vatel?

No, students at Vatel must be available full time due to the demanding schedule.

Will I get paid for the internships?

Yes.

From where will I receive my certificate when I graduate?

Upon graduation, you will receive your wall certificate from Vatel France.

Are costs related to the international internships included in the tuition fees?

No, the travel costs will be borne by the student. This includes flights tickets, travel insurance and visa costs.

Vatel will always do its best to ensure the student has free accommodation among other benefits.
